Praveen Suri joined this platform for several reasons.The main thing was to reinforce with the government & sports body to understand and adopt wider application of AI in practice. The 65-year-old ex director of sports authority of India believes, we will be dealing with lot improvised competition in sports if we have not already seen the marks of it. We need to adopt and lead the race.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to significantly contribute to the development of better sportspersons in several ways. Here are some ways in which AI can assist in building better athletes:

  1. Performance analysis: AI can analyze large volumes of sports-related data, including player statistics, match videos, and training data, to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement. By examining an athlete’s performance in detail, AI systems can provide valuable insights into their strengths, weaknesses, and areas where they need to focus on to enhance their skills.

  2. Training optimization: AI-powered systems can create personalized training programs tailored to an individual athlete’s needs. By considering factors such as the athlete’s performance data, physiological characteristics, and injury history, AI algorithms can design training routines that maximize effectiveness and minimize the risk of injuries. AI can also provide real-time feedback during training sessions, helping athletes refine their techniques and make necessary adjustments.

  3. Injury prevention: AI can play a crucial role in identifying and preventing sports injuries. By analyzing data from wearable devices, such as heart rate monitors, accelerometers, and GPS trackers, AI algorithms can detect patterns indicative of overexertion, fatigue, or potential injury risks. It’s important to note that while AI has significant potential to enhance athletic performance, human expertise, coaching, and physical training remain essential components in developing better sportspersons. AI should be viewed as a supportive tool that complements the skills and knowledge of athletes and coaches, rather than a replacement for human involvement in sports.
